One of the most beautiful and lively times of year is just around the corner. Longer evenings and warmer days mean spring is well on its way. Spring is one of the best times of year for any wildlife lover; flowers, insects, mammals, birds, and much more are starting to make their first appearances. Whether in your garden or out and about there is so much you can now look out for in the coming months.  

Wildlife recording can take place at any time of day or night and is a great way to appreciate nature around you. Nature is everywhere and taking notice can help with our mental wellbeing. We asked our local wildlife recorders what top tip they would give to someone starting their journey of wildlife recording for the New Year. 

We have four species of reptiles on Jersey - Slow Worms, Grass Snake, Wall Lizards and Green Lizards.

With the sunny weather, temperatures rising and the arrival of spring there have been more and more reptile records coming in through the Jersey Biodiversity Centre Facebook page, Jersey Wildlife and through our online recording form.

It's surprising on such a small island that you are never too far away from spotting a reptile. Whether you have never seen one before or are a regular lizard spotter the feeling of seeing them close to home is stunning.
