Slow Worm

Often confused with a snake, this animal is actually a legless lizard. 

Slow worms can reach up to 50cm and are a beautiful golden colour. They get their name worm from their hibernation location come winter time, underground. We have sightings from lots of gardens as well as nature reserves.

Males are paler in colour and sometimes have blue dots down their sides, females on the other hand have a large dark strip running down the sides. 

This reptile is often mistaken for a grass snake. If you can snap a photo that will help us to check your sighting.
