This year again, we need you to help us and count our butterflies! As they react very quickly to climate and environment changes, their distribution is essential to understand biological and natural processes. Besides, it will help us identifying vulnerable species and thus planning how to protect them.
How to proceed?
- Choose the place you want (gardens, parks, fields…) and a sunny day!
- Count during 15 minutes
- If the position is fixed, try to count the maximum number of each species that you can see at a single time. If you walk, simply total up the number of each butterflies species you saw.
- Use the hand identification chart: http://www.bigbutterflycount.org/idchart
- At the end, you can send your sightings online from July to August, at http://www.bigbutterflycount.org/ or via a free app available for IOS and Android. Unfortunately, any counts sent in on paper or by email, text or phone cannot be accepted.
